In Mexico City, outrage erupted after a transgender woman was assaulted by two public officials in Alameda Central. The aggressors beat the woman, and despite the presence of police, they managed to escape unpunished from the scene.
In response to this act of violence, feminist collectives held a protest on Eje Central to denounce the inaction of the elements of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) in the face of the aggression suffered by Dana, the transgender woman.
During the protest, emphasis was placed on the complicity of some police officers for not intervening to stop the aggressors. This generated a call for all authorities to act with strict respect for human rights and the law.
The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, reacted firmly to the incident, condemning the violence and assuring that the alleged perpetrators are already in custody and at the disposal of the competent authorities.
Dana, the assaulted woman, suffered physical injuries that required medical attention. She was transferred to Balbuena Hospital where she was diagnosed with a bruise around her right eye, as a consequence of the blows received.
The protesters demanded justice and that situations like this not be repeated in the city. Due to the seriousness of the events, an immediate investigation has been ordered to clarify what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
